This course presents an historical survey of American literature from the early development of North America to the colonial era and through the twentieth century. Students will be writing essays in a variety of rhetorical modes in order to critically engage the texts that are read. Throughout this course, students will cultivate and sharpen the various skills that are necessary to succeed both in and out of the classroom.
